Rain Barrel Workshop

September 11th, 2021 @ 10:00 AM

Class Description: Participants will learn how to turn a used, food-grade barrel into a rain barrel, why it is important to capture rainwater, and how to maintain your barrel. Attendees will retrofit their barrel and take it home from the workshop. Pre-registration is required and participants must drive a suitable vehicle in order to take home their 55-gallon rain barrel (truck/SUV or hatchback).

Only 1 rain barrel per household; participants must attend class to receive materials. Couples in the same household can attend together AND only pay one registration fee as they will only be receiving one barrel.

If fewer than 10 people register for a given workshop time, then the class is subject to be canceled and participants will select a different date/time or receive a refund. Otherwise, refunds are reserved for cancellations received prior to 7 days of the workshop.

Please note: Class sizes have been reduced and the majority of the workshop will take place outside at the Spokane Conservation District Campus at 4422 E 8th Ave. Spokane Valley, WA 99212. While people are no longer required to wear a mask outdoors, CDC continues to recommend people who are not fully vaccinated wear a mask in these areas to protect themselves and others. For the limited portion of the class that will take place inside, we ask that vaccinated and unvaccinated attendees please wear a mask.

Tools: During the retro-fit use of drills are necessary. I always encourage you to bring your own drill. I will have one to use and all of the drill bits to drill holes, but work will go faster with more drills.

Refunds will be provided if no less than 24hrs notification is given to stacey-selcho@spokanecd.org. This will also us to contact someone else to ensure the barrel and space in the class are not wasted.

  • $25 per person for residents within Spokane County
  • $45 for out of county attendees.

Please bring your driver’s license or a piece of mail to show proof of residency at the time of the workshop.

Farm and Food Conference

November 5th & 6th 2021

The Centennial Hotel, Spokane WA

The Farm and Food Conference is a two-day, in-person event where progressive farmers (small and large), ag industry professionals, consumers and other conservation partners will gather to gain a deeper understanding of the ecological practices and the economic incentives of regenerative farming.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Ray Archuleta, Certified Professional Soil Scientist with the Soil Science Society of America. Ray has over 30 years’ experience as a Soil Conservationist, Water Quality Specialist, and Conservation Agronomist with NRCS. We are very excited to host Ray as he speaks to a vast audience encouraging and helping them achieve their regenerative agriculture goals and objectives – whether they are a farmer, rancher, processor, restaurant, retailer, or involved consumer.
